hi.. i have a 1984 5.0 mustang with a 7.5 rear end.. a frien of mine is offering a 1994 4 cylinider ranger rear ends.. is this the one with the 373 8.8 gears?
do i have to modify something in my car or is it a direct bolt on installation
thanks

A 4 cyl Ranger will have a 7.5" rear. Odds are it has 3.45 gears but you'd have to check the axle tag. A 4 cyl 4x4 Ranger will have 4.10 gears.
A Ranger rear axle will not bolt into your Mustang.

the thing is that the rear axle is ina junk yard and the rest of the truck was sold.. so theres no door tag...any other way to find out it has the 373s?

You should be able to hold one wheel in place and count rotations of the other wheel as you spin the pinion (or vice versa).

i didnt get you fastpakr!!

Lift one wheel off the ground. Spin the pinion and count rotations of the tire that can still move, or spin the tire and count rotations of the pinion.

that part i got it.. i just dont understan why or how many rotations

As an example, if the pinion turns 3.45 times for every 1 rotatation of the wheel, you have 3.45 gearing.
