Was wondering if anyone has ever ported and polished their 3.0 upper and lower intake? How hard was it? any noticable gains?
Got the idea in my head when i was moving stuff around the garage and found a spare Upper and lower intake for my 3.0.

can't go wrong when improving air flowing on combustion engines.

what mods do you have currently?

I p&p'd my upper and lower, but I used a '98 upper intake along with a MAC intake and bbk 56mm throttle body. I wouldn't bother messing around with the factory pre-1998 Ranger manifolds.

so a 98 and up 3.0 upper intake will fit on my ranger?
As of right now all i have done is gutted cats, flowmaster 40 series and duals.
Waiting for some cash to roll in to swap in my 4.56 gears. Might possibly throw a chip at it as well and try the 1.7 rockers, again, have to wait for some more cash to roll in.
As for headers, them bad boys are too high priced for my taste.

well its been found that exhaust does nothing but add noise, actually hurts power some w/ gutted cats or no cats (i would kno ive done this) and am going to install anothe cat when shes up and running again. the 1.7 rockers and underdrives are the best bang for the buck on a 3.0 along w/ regearing. intake mods do little from what ive heard but i dont see any harm in a larger throttlebody and ported intake, the two piece aluminum intakes w/ removable throttlebody are portable and its to ones advantage since they can go larger than the composite plenums. the only other thing i would do to a stock 3.0 in hindsight is a 4.0 dual core radiator and shroud.

:icon_confused:Not to Hijack the thread, but do the 3.0 with tow package have the larger radiator to go with drums and trans cooler???

the autos have trans coolers standard if im not mistaken, the drums are 9 or 10 inch just depends on the rear end size and if they have fins on the drums or not, and the larger radiator only comes on the 4.0s. the 4.0 radiator also has a built in tranny cooler, i recommend using an external that way if it blows you dont have tranny fluid in your coolant...
