got a 95 ford ranger that hydrolocked the engine. put in a 98 explorer 4.0 and now it works, runs and drives, but every now and then when it warms up the oil pressure drops to zero. what did i do wrong and what can i do?

It's almost surely a sensor problem. I think it's quite common on that year. I would start by replacing the sending unit, or getting a mechanical gauge.

yea a buddy told me to get a mechanical gage, but i would like the stock one to work... i think its the camshaft position sensor?? maybe.. idk i was hoping it would be an easy fix but i guess its time to call a shop and see what they say for pricing...
