Well, as some know, I am trying to figure out what happened to my 1992 Ranger. I know there is a bent valve, so I am removing the head to replace that and the lifters.

I have both the drivers side and passenger side valve covers off, and was wondering if anybody knew what else I had to remove in order to get the head off. I am guessing all the injector wires, and obviously the main radiator hose. Do I also need to take the hose mount off the front? Anything else I may need to remove?

You still have ALOT more to remove before the head(s) are ready for removal. Like the upper and lower intake, ps, alt, a/c and all brackets for those accessories, y-pipe.........

Purchasing a repair manual for your truck would be a wise investment for this project.

I also removed the alt, the power steering, but haven't removed the AC because I heard it's harmful to do so. I removed a lot of the bracketry. I haven't removed the headers, though.

I do have a repair manual, but I can't find it. I guess I better look for it, lol.

Thank you!

You can unbolt the ac compressor and move it to the side to get some room to work, no need to evac the system.

That's what I figured, I just didn't want to touch it yet until I could confirm it.

If the weather is cooperating tomorrow, I will probably try to get some more headway done. All I am trying to figure out is when the piston came up and smacked the valve, if it may have done some damage to it. If it did, then a new motor will be swapped in.
