I am trying to remove the rear axle in my 93 Explorer so I can take it to a buddies house and weld some perches on for a spring over axle conversion.
I have the axle sitting on the ground, all I need in order to remove it from under the truck is to remove/disconnect the brake lines. There are two lines going to either side right by the drum, turning them gets me no where. I believe they are for the emergency brake, although I could be wrong. I think there are some others I have to remove too. Ive tried searching but couldnt find my answer. Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Is the axle drum or disk?

Ford 8.8's with disk brakes do have an e-brake. You have to pull the disk off to get to it. Then the cables come out like regular e-brake cables, you release the clips.

If you're talking about the metal lines to the wheel cylinders, I soak 'em down good with PB blaster to try to get them out.
