I can't recall but I know a 31" will fit on 93'-97' rangers. I'd say you might have to go with a slightly shorter 255 or 265. I'm afraid the 285's will rub. They are about a 32.5" tire. Are you looking for an all terrain or highway tire?

You should. They may cup a little and wear they center faster than the out side though. My 9.5 in wide tire on stock 15's cup a little. How wide were the original tires or the tires you have on now?

You can but 16x8 is better, but there are plenty of guys running that tire on stock wheels

My credo
"220, 221, whatever it takes."
Lotta people on the Sport Trac site run 285's on the stock 16x7 wheels. You will need to turn up the torsion bars in front 1.5 inches or so. Some people run spacers in the rear on Sport Tracs, I don't know if a Ranger would need them or not. I have 265's and the rears rub a little on the inside.

My .02, yes they will work on the stock rims, yes they would be better on 16x8's.

where did you get your front bumper? Also does anyone think a stock 04 Ranger 4x4 can run with 265-75-16?

2 year old thread, would be best to PM him. The bumper is a modified Jeep XJ bumper if I remember correctly.

I don't know about tire rub but the 285/75/16 require, at the smallest, a 7.5" wide wheel. The stockers are 16x7 and can handle a 265/75/16 safely.
If you put those larger tires on just remember that will destroy any performance you might have had before.
