4.0 swap question

Hey i was wondering if i went to a auto wrecker and found a good 4.0 engine from a 04 FX4 ranger could that fit in my 1989 Ranger? Let me know

I'm sure someone else will chime in, but I'm 99% sure you can bolt an newer engine into an older truck. Where it gets complicated is all the OBD-II wiring you will need for that engine. I think it would be a pretty big undertaking unless you had the donor truck right next to your truck.

that would be a wiring fiasco, so if this is a dd or you dont have an ability to figure out very complex wiring diagrams etc, dont start with this. go to a 90-92 4.0, they have considerably easier swap over wiring, like under a dozen for your truck being a second gen already. just curious, do you still have headers 4 sale?
