A few months ago I got the exhaust done on my B2 and didn't have the cash for a true Flowmaster. From there I had very few options. The shop that did the work carries and recommends Thrush Chambered mufflers for a similar sound and performance on par with the real deal. So, I figured, "what the hell, I'll give it a whirl."
The shop I went through doesn't have a mandrel bender (kind of a small shop), so I decided that with the non-mandrel bends that I had better go with 2.5" tube to attempt to make up a little bit of restriction over the 2.25" I had wanted.
Anywho...After getting a whole exhaust setup done from the cat-back for the VERY low price of $140, I am really impressed!
The sound of the exhaust is similar to a mildly built small block, a little louder than I'd prefer, but pretty damn mean sounding. I''ll tolerate a little extra noise for the sound. Up around 3K it starts getting REALLY loud, but still really deep. Not like a typical V6 in any way.
Now, for the fit and finish... Can't complain one bit! The muffler is thin enough it's tucked up so it rarely gets hit on rocks and the like, nice sized, clean welds, decent heat-proof paint that still hasn't burned off to this day.
Now, the bad...None of which is related to the actual muffler, but more the exhaust shop. I'll put it this way...they did nothing I asked for except tucking the exhaust high up. The tubing is miter cut to clear the axle, there are only two hangers (both of which are on the same side of the tube leaving it to hang and twist the other way by wy of gravity), they didn't align it right and it constantly is blowing out the gasket between the cats and Y-pipe, and the one between the cats and the rear of the exhaust.
Needless to say, I love the muffler, and hate the work the shop did to put it in.
