Show me a link to this ebay kit. I have yet to be able to find one for an OHV 4.0L.

At one Time Ford Motorsport sold a kit that used a Paxton (Centrifugal) Supercharger

It was IIRC only available for the 1993-94 and the kit included a different PCM.

Yep. I couldn't remember the specific, but there definitely was a blower kit available for the OHV. At one time weren't there actually two major companies offering them?

The one that comes to mind right now is Explorer Express that used the Eaton 90.

thomas knight had a kit made for the OHV using a m62 blower from an xterra. ive heard nothing but bad things about the kit and i actually was able to get a hold of some of the temlplates for the brackets he included with the kit and they were a complete joke. they were not even close to the right shape. BBK used to make an OHV kit that was LEGIT but ive heard that finding a good used one is like seeing jesus walking down the street.

It will not just bolt on. You will have to modify it to fit. With enough time, energy and money you could make it work. There are people here who have gone the turbo route on the 4.0. It would be cheaper to do that. You should read up on that. If you are trying to go down the "not many have done it so I want to" road and install a supercharger. You had better dig deep into your pockets and polish up on your fabrication skills. You are going to have to put in some work to make it run good and be dependible.

if you go with the supercharger from the supercoupe 3.8l then the hardest part is finding a place for it to fit. as long as you can make it sit SOMEWHERE on the engine and line up with the belts you will be fine. from there you will have to route piping to the intake and injectors and new engine management will be the most expesive part. my buddy started on a supercharger build on his cherokee and so far his biggest problem is there is absolutely no room under the hood... it not as difficult as most make it seem.

So you're just going to mount a Roots blower SOMEWHERE on the engine? That sounds promising.

Wouldn't it be easier to just bolt the whole 3.8 engine into the engine bay? :icon_twisted:
