I am rebuilding the 4.0 engine from my 92 Ranger. I am replacing the old stock cam with an aftermarket cam, and would also like to start with a clean slate by replacing all the lifters. However, the only replacement lifters I can find (other than OEM at nearly $60 each) are made by Sealed Power at $38 each. It doesn't take much thought to know I don't want to spend $450-$500 on lifters. :annoyed: Especially not while knowing I can get a set of 16 for a ford 5.0 for $129.

Does anyone know of a lifter set up that will work in lieu of OEM style? My next step is the mike the old lifters and find aftermarket lifters that will match the clearance. And probably order custom sized rods.

Deffineatly replace the lifters when changing a cam.

Hopefully someone can help you out with a cheaper source for them.

Found for less

I found the lifters from www.rpmmachine.com. Since I needed the rebuild kit anyway, I was able to add the lifters to my kit purchase for $20 apiece. A bargain when compared to nearly $40 each.

My top end is set now with the sealed power lifters, delta cam rods and rockers, comp cams camshaft and heads from alabama cylinder heads.

I feel your pain, just bit the bullet and got 12 elgin lifters @ $32. each (canadian) if you need the part #'s for these let me know.
