Hello all, I have a 1998 ranger with a 2.5L. I had the battery disconnected for 2 days while adding a new radio and speaker system. When I reconnected the battery there was a larger than normal spark. Now the truck will crank but will not start. Anyone else had this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the spark at the battery means something inside the truck was on. the spark shouldnt mean anything at all. u should un hook ground from battery because its safer but it really doesnt mean anything. the engine could just be starting hard for being off for 2 days... how long did u try cranking it?

Did the terminal get hot at all? Or did you burn a fuse? Make sure you didnt short any wires when you hooked up the stereo.

Ok, I unhooked what I had installed. Now when I try to turn the truck over it will turn over briefly then stop. The battery is new and I also have a trickle charger if needed. One strange thing I have noticed is when the ign is on and I press the brake pedal the a/c clutch engagesto the compressor. This is the first time I have ever seen something like this. Coul this be a sign that the PCM is shot?
