Ok so I bought a welder. In all reality...how difficult on a scale of 1 to 10 is it the bag my 86 Ranger. I was thinking about it for a long time and if I were to do a 4 link rear and control arm front with a frame arch in the back instead of building a new back clip how hard would it be? I havn't welded in like almost a year and my fab skills are most likely like 7 out of 10. Is it worth a try.

Depends on your skills, hookups, and cashflow, but all in all its about a 7...take your time and plan it out before you lift your plasma torch :icon_welder:

I wish I had the time, place, money and a good welder - I would design and fab a 4 link for mine. There have been numerous versions done over the years in various ways. As mentioned - PLAN PLAN PLAN and then review those plans or have them reviewed. Doing a notch (frame arch) is not that difficult in its own right, but adding a new suspension system to it adds to the difficulty. Adding control arms to the front will be another task that is daunting and requires a lot of planning. One methods is to graft on a Toyota front frame clip to the Ranger frame giving you a complete set-up to work with instead of building one from scratch - not that there is anything wrong with that.
I do wish you the best of luck with this and would like to see how it comes out . . . so pleeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssseeeeeee post a build thread if you do it. Could be a learning experience for us all . . .

yea it would because i have been looking at another ranger and plan to build "Project Bag It!" . but because i have no experience with bagged trucks other than watching my brother and doing diesel truck bags at work.... it would be great to see someone else do it. keep us posted! :headbang:

thanks for the support! I think I'm gonna just get some beams and a flip kit for now. I'm fabbing up a new exhaust tommrow so aybe bagging it will be my fall and winter project this year. I will for sure post a build thread when I do because I know I will evetually.

know wut would be cool? drop that truck then just buy another one u can just put in garage and work on it over time and remove cab and bed and front clip and show us pics of everything u do for C-notch and everything... heh just an idea.

ehehe I totally would but I'm sure my dad wouldn't like it as I just pulled this one out of the garage after 6 months so I'm sure he's excited he has a agarage again and not me filling it up...but I totally want to do that now LOL
