Hooking up tweeters

Everything is kind of fuzzy for me. I have read that a crossover should be used. Then i have heard that you can splice them into your speakers, or hooked up to the head unit. I really dont wanna have to buy a crossover if i dont have to. I have 2 MTX 10s in my truck and i would like to get a nice variety of sound.

tweeters cant play all the notes your full range head unit puts out it,they wont last long and sound like crap, not to mention you would be running your head unit at 2 ohms which its not meant to, so it will burn out quicker, you need crossovers
