Spacers for Ranger

I have a 96 Ranger. I Have a set of wheels that I want to put on, but they do rub slightly when doing a hard turn. I want to put spacers on, but everything I see , says for disc brakes only. Is there a reason you can't put these spacers on the rear -- with the drum brakes ??
