backwindow removal?

Has anyone ever removed the back window from a 1st or 2nd Gen ranger. i've heard if you'r carfull they come right out with hand tools becuase there not glued in like the windshield just the rubber seal is holding them in. the reason i'm asking one of the trucks i'm looking into buying has a broken rear window and insted of paying to have it replaced i wanted to do it myself. I have two parts truck with perfictly good rear windows. Thanks

Do it. I've replaced two so far in my truck with a screwdriver. Had to replace them since I keep leaving my keys inside. Super easy!!!

Yes, it is very easy.

Something I do, is to take the rubber gasket, after it's off of the truck, put it in a plastic bag and then hose it down real good with a rubber & vinyl treatment (like Armor-All). Let it sit for a while, like at least overnight. This will help make it "slippery" for reinstallation, and also help the rubber last longer afterward.

When you're reinstalling the new glass, use a cord, like 1/8" and preferably nylon (insulated wire also works). First put the gasket around the glass. Then place the cord in the top and side outer channels of the gasket. Throw the two ends of the cord into the cab, then set the window/gasket assembly onto the bottom of the window opening. Have a helper push on the glass from the outside, and pull the cord ends from inside the cab to fully seat the glass/gasket.

If you need to lubricate the gasket for reinstallation, liquid dishwashing soap works well.

the only tool I used to change my rear window was a spoon I found on the floor, took like 15 minutes...

standard cab windows are held in with the rubber seal. extended cab windows bolt in and have glue sealing them to the cab.

Thanks for the info guys i'm going to give her shot and see how well i do, and both the trucks i have are standard cab luckly.

ya, lucky for you! the bolt in ones are a PITA compared to the standard cabs.
