6in leaf question

im going to do a SAS on my 88 ranger and does anybody have any recomemded companies to go with for 6 inch leafs for the front.i dont want it to stiff and also in the future will be doing a sb 302 swap
 
What kind of leafs are you going to run up front? Chevy 63s, rangers, F-150s somthing else?
 
i just want to know what everybody else is running for there front leafs and there thoughts on them and would they recomemended anything else
 
Im in the process of my swap and im using 6inch superlift 87 chevy 1500 springs. Hate the bushings that they make for them but i got them both brand new for $160. Cant tell you how stiff they are cause i dont have her sitting on her own weight yet. Chevy springs from this year are good to use cause the springs 2.5 inches wide. I tried a 3inch wide spring and it caused issues with were the perch lined up on the axle. Made it to close to the pumpkin.

Im going with chevy 73-87 fronts they are 48" eye to eye, and not too bad im picking a good used set of 16" lift for $350.

Are these the Chevy 52"?
 
No there only like 44 or 46 inches long. Pretty sure that the 1500 2500 and I think 3500 chevys from 73-87 ran the same springs. I think if you went with longer leaf springs you would have problems with the body mounts getting in the way of the rear shackle. I've already taken the grinder to both my body mounts at the front of the doors with the 44 inch springs.
 
I just read your first post again and realized you have an 88. Why do you want to run leaf springs? Your already set up for coils arent you?
 
Just throw a 4-link up front! :D

and the the rear to match. ;)
 
or just get ranger springs rearched for 6in lift
 
Im using front and rear leafs from a 1978 f250.

x2 coils are pretty easy to do on an 88 because it already has provisions for them. If your only going with 6" of lift in the front coils and factory ford Fullsize radius arms is the way to go.
 
well after alot of thought i may be going with coils instead of leafs.so i have a another question what coils would you recommend thanks any info will greatly be appricated.
 
Early bronco coils are pretty popular, and so are XJ coils.
 
I started with leafs up front and I ran into to many problems. Coils is the way to go, I used Rubicon Express coils for a 97 jeep tj 5.5 inches of lift. You have to adapt the Jeep perch to the existing ranger perch. Once I had all the parts it took me 8 hours to install everything by my self. Easy and Im no mechanic just like to wheel
