this ? might be a dumb one that is posted up some place but i did not see it.... how much wider is a full length dana 44 then the standers 88 ttb wheel base? will my truck look stubid sitin on 35s with full lengts?
 
well bump that ?!!! i made up my mind im going full length d44 extended radis arms and 2.0 14" air shocks 35 mts time to find a doner truck in the bone yard
 
Where do you live? Remember, air shocks don't like cold weather.
 
im in north carolina. i got to looking at seting up the air shocks and got to thinking im going to use coils for now till i get all the right stuff like nitrogen tank and guages to use the air shocks i gess ill have to fab up some coil buckets or rob them off a jeep
 
it wont look stupid just do a full width rear as well...if your state laws permit

Do they just get stiffer when its cold out? I've been thinking of using them when I get around to throwing the d44 under my truck. It gets down to about -15-20 degrees celcius here in the winters.
 
ok so far i know wut i need ...im looking for a 78,79 full size ford( i dont know ford trucks good so if other years work chime in!)ill get the rd's arms and the coil buckets,and track bar thing. i figerd looking at others i will have to space the buckets out about 2 in on the frame to keep the springs straght. im going to add 10 to 12 inch to the arms with tubing and sum kind of johny or knock of brand joints. but i dont know wut size springs my 88 is a 2.3 so i dont want it real stiff with big full size lift springs wut can i use?
 
Normally you will lose some height when it gets cold too. I know a few people that have tried to run them up here and they didn't last. They went to coilovers instead. I supposed a hybrid would work a bit better but I'm not sure.

76-77 Ford fullsize coil spring axles will work too (they are harder to find). Most ranger guys find EB coils work pretty well. Check out White Rhino's build on Pirate4x4.com he extended his radius arms and they came out pretty good.
 
Any fullsize coil sprung axle will work. I find most all the time, the earlier drum brake axles are near free. Very easy to convert in my neck of the woods.
 
My shocks havnt lost any hieght at all, the oil just thickens up and they ride a little stiff for awhile.
