so i was having this intermitent starting problem and got it traced back to a loose wire on the starter, but when i went under it this morning to tighten the nut i found water and oil both leaking from my baby so i see oil comming from the top of the pan which i can only assume is the pan seal and water from behind the water pump so how much fun is it going to be in order to replace the pan seal and pump? ive replaced water pumps before so it shouldnt be too hard for me but dam this blows!!! oh well atleast i have money, you know whats messed up is ive did a coolant flush in my ranchero and it did the same thing (blow the water pump) and i used prestone i just did the coolant flush a few weeks ago in my ranger and again i used prestone, WTF?????:bawling:

i just got my oil leak fixed. i am sorry to say but replacing that oil pan seal is going to be costly if you don't do it yourself. i had to replace my oil pan and seal. if you replace both of these you either have to remove the engine or drop the tranny. there is no exceptions. i was able to have one of my friends do the job and he only charged me 300 for labor. but be prepared to pay about 500 to 700 at a shop.

yup i just got a quote for 240 for the water pump and 800 for the oil pan seal, i remember reading on here how someone dropped the pan a few inches cut the gasket and avoided pulling the motor, is this possible?
