i have a 97 mazda b4000 with the 4.0 v6 is it the same engine as the ranger or did mazda put there own in there.?

no the 3.0 and 4.0 have a different bell housing pattern.

The 4.0 will bolt to a 2.9L transmission though..

no, thats not possible, they all share the M5OD-R1 manual transmission. the bolt pattern is the same on all of them.

wrong the 2.3 has a different pattern than the 2.9/4.0 and that is different than the 3.0. this has been covered a million times over in the last 6 years i know of. the 2.9/4.0 are cologne engines and the 3.0 is a vulcan.

just did my research and you guys are right. i feel stupid for not knowing something like that.
