Hey all.. Ive recently picked up a 87 BII and the tranny seems hooped. Could you tell me what else would fit into its place? I really at this point of time dont care if its got overdrive or not I just want to get it moving.. I was reading that maybe a C-5 might work any insight on that. Also I was told that it should have a dummy transfer case which I looked and it dose not So Im assuming thats good news.? I was told a Areostar tranny should fit into its place but as far as I can tell its only one year of areostar that can ( 86?)
Anyways if you could help me out here it be much appreciated
Thanx

Wow 30 veiws and no reply?? Whats goin on?? Any how its my 2WD drive one that Im wondering about. Some one's gotta have an answer. It has a 2.9L with an automatic I believe now that its a A4LD so is there anything else that would fit??
Desperate for answers

Any other A4LD from a 2wd BII or 91-94 2wd Explorer will bolt right in, although some 2wd BIIs may have the dummy t-case. Also any 2wd Ranger from around 87-94 with a 2.9 or 4.0.

A4LD's have a very unique oil pan...Hard to miss...It's all flat until you get to the middle of it, and then it has like a downwards 'cone' in the middle of it. (kinda looks like a huge nipple sticking out of it, about 2" dia.)

Most of the ones at the local yard I deal with have (or had...) the dummy transfer case in use. Might want to verify you have a A4LD. (Notice the "Most" part...I've only seen a few..and frankly that can't cover the entire line Ford used).
