2.3 sohc to a dohc


Well, yes...but only if you use the Volvo head...but if you're thinking of working in the Duratec head it's simply not possible...they are completely different animals...
 
i have a lima tech. i found a volvo sohc head on ebay. now im gonna try to find a head in the junk yard but well see how that goes.

I forgot about the Volvo head swap... Good luck on it, I hear it's a good bit of work... If you do it, take lots of pics!
 
i will with the digi. im gonna start calln round for the head tomorrow. Also for the turbo. Im sick of the stock 2.3. I want to shut up all those import fags haha. These motors are bad fast when tweaked. My dad thinks im nutz for wasting my time with a 4 banger but i think im smart cuz of the gas prices and fuel economy we get with them.
 
Be careful... You can't just slap a turbo on a stock 2.3 and expect wonders, you'll blow it up with more than 5-6psi... If you really wanna build a good turbo motor start out with a turbo 2.3 (t-bird turbocoupe/merkur xr4ti/mustang svo) and build it up and do a head swap... I wish I had the funds to do a turbo swap to my 2000 Ranger, I'd find a turbo coupe motor, put a high lift cam, port and polish the heads, etc... I'd shoot for ~350 hp, but that's just what I'd do...
 
well im doin this smart so. im buying everything peice by piece and dont plan on getn ahead of myself lol. Money doesnt grow on trees

Trees = wood = pulp = paper...so, therefore...money does grow on trees...lol

I would plan it carefully and put the money into forged pistons with a slight overbore...

The shop where I had my head done specializes in circle track 2.3 engines and they've produced some good engines...that are carbed...and that is where I was going with mine till the fit hit the shan...so I had to settle for just the top end for now...but it should still kick out over 100 HP with the right intake/carb...
 
shizza mine kicks out over 100 right now! im guestimating bout 115 total mayb a lil more lol. or just wishful thinkn. im shootn for 250 - 300 when im done. i just want to eat up imports and 6cyl s .ik i wont b satisfied even wit that. volvo head and turbod should give me bout that.
