hi i was just wondering, my emergency break light stays on when the emergency brake is not engaged. what could be the problem? by the way the truck is a 99 xlt supercab 4x4 with the 4.0 in it.

Try pulling the pedal back. There may be slack in it causing it not to come back all the way. My mom's Blazer had this problem.

Check the brake fluid level.

If it's low enough to trip the light, you either have a leak or need new brake pads/shoes.

See Myth #6 at the bottom.

You could also have a bad PB switch. There is one wire going to it. Disconnect that wire = no light from the PB assembly.

Same thing happened to me. I never check the brake fluid, so one day, my Brake Light would stay on. I added brake fluid and bingo.
