ranger idle shaking problem

my 1999 3.0 ranger has a baddd shake on idle it doesnt happen when it has a load but the motor will shake every three seconds about. It doesnt have a miss and didnt bring up any codes. the snap on reader that we hooked up to it only said that it is running a little rich. any body else have this problem? thanks alot
 
rich will cause a stumble and rough idle. check you plugs and o2 sensors for starters. my trk always rough idled just a common characteristic but it was never a really ruff loping idle til it died running on 3 cylinders...

Have you had your battery disconnected recently? If so, read your owners manual page 171. The procedure for enabling the engine to relearn its idle and fuel trim strategy is outlined on page 171. Failure to follow the relearning procedure can result in rough idle for weeks.
I had "paintshaker" idle for a couple of months until I stumbled on the procedure in the owners manual. My idle improved greatly after following the relearn directions.
 
thanks for the info and i did change the battery several months ago and i do not believe i let it "learn" buti just did it and it didnt do anything?? i dont know if its beacause i let it go like that to long? but im pretty sure it was doing it before that. or is that just not the problem? any more input??
