I'm trying to get another 4x4/off road vehicle. I bought a 2wd B3000 for commuting and now that I don't need to commute I wanna get another off road vehicle.

I am having trouble deciding between an F150 single cab or a Ranger ex cab. I would like to get either a 4.0L Ranger or the 5.0L F150. Plans are to make it into a moderate prerunner 4x4. I like the F150 because it has more width and seems easier to get travel out of the longer D44 front end than to squeeze travel out of the D35, also seems a lot stronger. What are some advantages Rangers have over F150's?

I don't have much experience with F150's and the 5.0L, how would mileage be with 33's? What would be good gearing? What about a Ranger with 33's?

I found these trucks http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/cto/1047746676.html

Just wanna get some opinions from people with more experience.

The F-150 probably has more parts availability. A Ranger would be slightly better on gas (but not a lot better) and is much smaller if that's an issue when you're off-roading.
For what you want I'd get the F-150.

I wouldn't want an F150. A fullsize has too much sheet metal. It's about 80" wide compared to 64" for a Ranger. Also, the Ranger can do more with smaller tires. 33s are nothing on a fullsize.
