My name is Kevin. I'm from Northwestern PA, though I'm currently a senior at Penn State University. I recently purchased a '92 Ranger XLT 2wd with 2.3L engine, 5-speed manual tranny, regular cab, and 7' bed. The main reason I got the truck was so I can haul around my vintage Honda motorcycles. The bulk of my Ranger experience has been with my stepfather's '92 4.0L, which has always been a pretty good truck. One of the best things about my truck is that it had spent all but the last year or two of its life in Las Vegas, so the body and frame are in excellent shape. Of course, the sun had taken its toll on the paint, and there are some chipped off areas with surface rust just above the windshield. Otherwise, It's a very solid truck.

I've been spending most of this week catching up on all of the regular maintenance. The previous owners didn't neglect the truck, but they certainly had room for improvement in caring for it. Someone had put heavy gear oil in the transmission, and the oil was waaay over due for a changing. One thing that I've got to figure out (aside from the fact that my turn signal fuse keeps blowing) is why somebody had hardwired a switch for the reverse lights. Any other problems with the truck are seemingly minor.

I look forward to learning as much as I can about my new acquisition, and hope that it provides me years of (relatively) trouble-free service!

Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
Howdy, and welcome aboard. Sounds like you found a perfect truck for your needs, and one that's in good shape for your neck of the woods. The lights problems shouldn't be too hard to fix; if you need help just post it.
