Wondering how reliable the tranny is in a 94 4.0 v6 4x4 ranger. I want a 5 speed, but this ranger came by with almost everything i want, but has an auto.
what tranny was in the 94 4.0 v6 4x4? reliable?

well drive it till the transmission goes then put a manual in there.

It's an A4LD, not known for their durability. If it still works, I would just keep driving it.
Many people (including myslef) have done M5OD swaps, do a search for it, you find what your looking for I think.

drive it till it dies, which could be quite awhile but probably not, the autos die, alot.
Well I tried searching, couldnt find any specific thread on the swap. I found a 99 ranger, not sure the mileage but its an auto. Not sure if Im going to have time with both my jobs to go drive the truck today.
Anyways, If someone who has swapped the 99 autos to a 5spd can tell me what i would be looking at costs/parts, me doing the work myself. and the overall difficulty. If someone has a link to the thread for doing an auto to manual swap for a 99 that would be awesome! Thanks
