96 2.3L Differences between upstream downstream Oxygen sensor Anything Besides Lengths of wires? Broke off the down stream oxygen sensor when pulling the transmission theres no room in the thing even with its jacked.

Need to know if there is a difference between up stream and down stream oxygen sensors because alot of the sensors sold don't come with connectors on the other end and don't say wether they are up or down stream?

Thanks,
Jason

Yeah great the catalog from autozone specifies down and up stream. But when you live in Montana and the 1 and only auto zone in Montana in Helena is 300 miles away doesn't do much for me.

Yeah sure I could go down to oreilly or napa and say hey I need a downstream oxy sensor woop dedo but I don't want to pay 70$

I asked what is the difference between a downstream and a upstream? Are they the same other than the length of the wire? or are they mechanically or electronically different?
I'm wondering because they're are various products online with out the connectors that you RE-WIRE to your original plug and wire FOR LIKE 19 BUCKS just the head of the actual oxygen sensors and 4 wires sticking out the a#% end. Again I need to know the differences because they do not list up or down on these sites, which makes me think there is no difference besides the length of the wires?

Thanks,
Jason

I'm in kalispell mt, and I got a new downstream O2 for $44 at Napa about 2 months ago for my 2.3. Should not cost much more than that.
