Rear Differntial Numbers What Do They Mean

how do i find out what my rear differntial numbers mean i need to find out if i have a limited

slip in the back i changed the gear oil a while ago and forgot to check to see if i had to put

that friction modifier stuff in my numbers are as it reads on the tag S357F R

so right now im just running straight gear oil right now is that bad will i need that friction stuff

The friction stuff will make it less grabby. Not having any modifier will make it the slip more limited :icon_thumby:

People got their limited slips and then complained about how they still would jump if they got on the throttle, so they made them not work as good (ala friction modifier) so people wouldn't complain as much. Or so I'm told.
 
i mainly want to know would it ruin my rear end if i dont have the friction modifier stuff in it ? i thought

that was my problem that i didnt have it becasue my rear end creaks and thuds alot when im turning or

going over a bump
 
If you go to an empty parking lot and go round in circles with light throttle in one direction and then do the same thing in the other direction it will help to get some lube into the clutches and stop the thudding for a while. If you have a limited slip it's a good idea to do the above once in a while to help the clutches slip a little easier. I don't use the friction modifier in mine and I have the extra clutch plate in each side. I don't care about the thudding but I do want the thing to grab hard when I need it.
