The L/S is in, valvoline part synthetic 80/90 gear oil, no friction modifier. I
spoke directly with the valvoline tech who stated in a typical gear oil change in my application there are 4 oz of friction modifier already added to their oil so none is needed. So far, absolutely no chatter though everything feels tight like a slight loss of power. I'm guessing that will lessen with use. Only 22 miles so far but I can feel a difference pulling out in my stone driveway and in gravel situations. BTW, the valvoline was only $ 4.50 a quart ( liter ? ) while the Coastal brand, a generic I think, was a buck more. No idea why. Ford full synthetic was $ 16.00 a quart. I paid a guy $ 95 for the installation which sounded really reasonable especially since he put new carrier bearings in.
Anyway, thought some of the guys might be interested in this info.
