Well I've been toying around with some ideas and I've decided that my current Bronco II is going to be a street queen, I'm putting too much work into the body and to be honest I like speed over bumpy roads, I like both but speed and racing is more my style. So with that said I want to convert my Bronco II into a 2wd, less parts to break and I can lower it to make it more stable at speed (and low profile tires won't look as ridiculous...lol)

Soo, how hard would this conversion be? I plan on running a 4.0 5spd and a 9" rear so that's all gotta fit.

Would it be easier to do a front suspension from a 2wd B2 or modify the frame to accept the front suspension from a Ranger?

Thanks

Ben

Just don't put it in 4wd. Then it's a 2wd.

My credo
If you're not making mistakes, you're not learning.
are you looking to lower it or just make it 2wd?

I'm not sure but I think the 2wd beams will lower it somewhat, and removing the blocks from the rear, but I'm not that familiar with BII's.

If you're looking to really slam it another option would be to get a 2wd Cherokee front end and basically do a SAS of sorts. You're removing all the 4x4 stuff anyways, and you wouldn't have to worry about R&P clearance and whatnot. Just ideas.

Just find a 2wd BII and put the front beams on (you'll have to change pass. side pivot bracket)... There is a write up somewhere of a 2wd to 4wd swap... Just do the opposite...

Doesn't help me wanting to just get rid of all the 4wd parts and lowering it.

are you looking to lower it or just make it 2wd?
I'm looking for both, I want to make it a 2wd so I can lower it and make it more stable for drag racing and just going fast...lol

Get a 2WD chassis or a 2WD Ranger Chassis and change the body over. Any way you go it will be a lot of work and money. Good Luck though I would like to see this . . .

I just threw up a little, in my mouth...

Don't get me wrong, I don't really mind the occasional lowered truck. But pink with red wheels and flames that look like they were created with used feminine products? I don't think so.

Converting a Bronco II to 2wd isn't that hard. The engine cross members are the same from the 2wd to 4wd BII's. The holes are already in the cross member for the 2wd brackets.

All you need to do to convert a 4wd BII to a 2wd is a set of 2wd Bronco II ONLY I beams (I have a set I would like to get rid of), 2wd Bronco II passenger beam bracket, and a 2wd Ranger 2.9 transmission.

Remember, the beams on a 2wd Bronco II are about 1" taller than 2wd Ranger beams, but they are 1" smaller in height than the 4wd beams. You can not swap the beams either as the Bronco II beams are a tad wider.
