body lift...one man job?

can one person do it or is help needed i did one on a 99 frontier but dont remember. 89 ranger
 
if you have a jack, yup. I would be nice to have a buddy helping you in case you need someone to hold a bolt or something, but it can be done alone.
 
yea i got a jack and all that. i need air tools too but i dont have those. those body mounts are impossible to get off without air tools
 
My impact wasn't stong enough to get most of the bolts out...I had to use a breaker bar and a pipe on most of it anyway.

I did mine without air tools
16" breaker and a rachet :D
 
Three of my body mounts would have been impossible with out a second set of hands. I used a 1/2" drive impact that helped out a ton, but some of the mounts just spun with the bolt. Other then that, it could easily be done by one man.

Hey the guy in Ak did it alone, I did it on my 84' not even with a jack! lifted the body with my manliness and slid a 4" peice of wood under it and a 16" breaker and 16" wrench underneath, broke em' loose no sweat... then again I am like superman!:D lol the key to keeping you truck not rusty is to wash it often!

To get the bolts out get some PB blaster or something to lube the threads and clean them off with a wire brush all around. I would also suggest starting with the bed because its easier. good luck:icon_thumby:

torch did wonders for me cause i have no paitence to mess around with rusted bolts. i did mine by my self but i broke a fuel line on the gas tank putting the bed back on. but you don't have to remove your bed i did cause i was swapping driveshaft at the same time.
 
yeah come up to MI and try something on my 94 the rust makes everything seem like its welded in. we use tons of air kroil (not sure if thats how its spelled something like that in a small orange can) it seems to work the best and put it on there a couple days in advance a few times a day and then go at it with a impacts and breaker bars
 
I put a BL on my 01 4wd ranger i used to have. I used basic handtools to do it. I worked 7 days a week at the time. I would work 8-4, come home, and spend from 4:30 to 9 at night trying to finish the truck, took me about 3 days to do it, probably could have been done faster but i didnt want to rush it and screw something up. but yes you can do it by yourself.
