I have an '02 Ranger FX4 with the SOHC 4.0L and a 5spd manual tranny. Sometimes the cruise control will not turn on, and other times it seems to work just fine. When it chooses not to work, the light on the dash does not come on either. You can be going down the highway trying to get it to engage with no luck, then 5 minutes later you can try it again and it will work on the first shot. Also, when the cruise control is on and working, it seems to make a buzzing noise. It does this more so when the truck is under load going up hill, and seems to quiet down when it is on a flat surface not having to work very hard. I don't believe this would make a difference, but the cruise control recall was performed on my truck to prevent the fire issue. Any ideas as to what could be happening here? Thanks.
