Ok guys and gals, its been a while since i came to you all with a question. Partially due to very important personal reasons, and mostly due to laziness.

But now im in a dilemma. I have a 07 YFZ 450 which will be in the bed of my 99 ranger 2wd 3.0, STD cab, long bed. And i will be pulling an average sized pop-up trailer. The quad weighs roughly 370 lbs., and the trailer tounge weight is somewhere around 200-250 lbs. Its has a class III hitch to pull with. My question (keep in mind i havent tested out the drop in the back end yet) is, will i have to beef up my rear suspension to pull this camper with my quad in the back? I'm not concerned with long term damage, i dont plan on having the truck much longer. I'm looking at a 98 F250 4x4 7.3L Turbo diesel...(i need a full size...in the worst way)

its roughly 60 miles each way (mostly highway)..and im on a real tight budget :icon_welder:

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Tommy

If you are worried about saging, you can always add a leaf or helper leaf spring. You can also swap out for some exploder leafs, or you can get the helper air bags from airlift.

But if you are just worried about it pulling it and wanting more powerwise ? The gears are going to be ok.

Your 3.slow should pull everything just fine, but you are going to sag a bit with stock suspension underneath it.

have 3 friends? get them and stand in the bed of your truck with them.....thats about 600lbs (conservatively) and will give you an idea of how much sag you'll have.

dont have 3 friends? load up your quad and get a fat friend to sit on it.

seriously? i wouldnt think twice about putting 600lbs in the bed of a truck like yours. heck ive had near that in the back of my escort. your still WELL under your trucks payload.

So you don't know what a Ranger can haul and you need an F250 diesel in the worst way? And you are on a real tight budget?

You can pull a pop-up with the quad sitting on top of it with a Ford Aspire.

You'll need the F250 Powerstroke when you upgrade to 2 quads and a 5x12 trailer.
