If this has been covered before my apologies. First time posting here. I have a 2003 Ranger with 3.0 V6 supercab automatic that I tow my popup camper (dry weight 2000 lbs.) with. On anything but the steepest grades it's adequate but I would like to know if there is any way I can increase the horsepower without spending an arm and a leg. Budget is pretty tight so I'm not looking for a miracle here.

Easy answer, to get a substantial increase in power is going to cost big $$$:

1) Forced induction
2) Increase engine displacement (like a 4.0L)
3) Increase compression, modify cam parameters for low end, or high end,
but without VVT you won't get both.
4) change gearing

Don't throw your money away on anything else.....

Thanks to Bob, triumphrider, capt jay and z3ro responses. z3ro sorry posted to wrong forum. closing thread.
