the problem: i let my ranger warm up every morning before i head out for the day for at least 10 minutes. when i get to my destination and turn off my truck , it sits for a period of time. when i return to my truck and try to start it it starts, but then dies right after. CAN ANYONE HELP ME? it would be highly appreciated.

Well, sounds like a temperature sensor to me. Coolant temperature sensor isn't telling the controller that the truck has cooled back down and it's not going back into cold-start. I've had it happen a couple of times over the years. Why it doesn't do it first thing in the morning is a little baffling, but maybe the sensor, given the whole night, eventually gets cold enough to return the correct voltage to put the computer into cold start.

This is just a guess of course. But the sensor is cheap and I would just change it. It will be near where the top radiator hose goes into the engine. Buy one and then go look for the connector that looks like it. There is a gauge sender near there as well but it has less wires--maybe just one. The sensor has 3 or 4 maybe.

hey thanks for the info, i will try that and let you know how it goes.

I had a clogging fuel filter do this as well- start and stall- then start and run all day afterwards. Next morning same BS...
