I've found a good deal on a 1992 f-150 5.0L 4x4 ... At first I only wanted the engine and wiring harness for a swap ... but it keep coming back in my mind ... is there a possibility to swap 1993 2x4 ranger to a 4X4 using the drivetrain off the f-150 ( i believe that it's a dana 44 IFS up front and a 8.8 in the back). is there alot off fabrication involved :icon_welder: ??

Also does a 4x4 make a better prerunner than a 2x4 ?? again I have to mentioned I'm not going all out on the suspension because I need the bead to drive my ATV around :D

sorry for my bad english
thank for the help

I know that none of it is bolt on ... actually my reall question is: is the ranger cross member identical from a 2x4 then on a 4x4 ??? I pretty shure that the braket for the Ibeam/diff are different but if the cross member is pretty close it would be easy to fabricate new brackets :icon_twisted:

The cross members are interchangeable.

Cut the rivets both another one in.

I know it is not that easy but I have seen it done.

It was a 5.0L conversion then it went to 4x4.

None of it is a bolt in swap, but all the parts can be swapped in without too much fab work.

if the frame is good on the f-150 and you want 4x4 what is stoping you using that frame? The motor and axles are done but you just fab mounts for the cab and or box? i am in the process of gathering for mine if you want to know where i am coming from
