A4ld wont shift

I just got a pick up that isnt shifting right, I dont know too much about the a4ld but have been told it might be a simple fix. Its an 85 with the 2.8 4x4 if it matters. It will shift but only at high RPM's like it thinks the throttle WOT. It wont go into overdrive. Someone told me to try the vacuum modulator but I read on here that it doesnt effect the shift points like I am experiancing. The kickdown looks like it is working(does anyone have a pic of the linkage on the carb for reference?) What all could make it shift late like its doing?

stuck gov and modulater along with failed tv connection.

i need to see/drive/test some shit before i can diagnose it...

trannies are that type of thing.

I have only driven it home but this is what I got from the drive:

It will manually shift if I started with the gear selector in first and then moved it to second.

After that when I put it in drive it would wind way out then shift into third. Never got it to shift into OD

There was not any weird noises or clunks. Shifts where firm with out any slop.

Where should I start? What can I check to pinpoint what is wrong?

Well lucky for me all that was wrong was disconected vacuum line and now it shifts like it should. :icon_cheers:

Got the truck for a $100 with a "bad trans" with a new radiator and battery.
