I have a 98 Ford Ranger XLT 4wd 3.0L i have a Dana 35 up front I was wondering if it would be better to put the 4.56 gearing in it or just do a solid axle swap. If so with the solid axle swap what kind of sxle should i go with.

i use to do alot of mudding but i quit that i just go onto trails with alot of climbing

with your engine and open diff, i dont see why you would need a SAS

Yes, keep it for now. Get a locker, flex is overrated.

"lunchbox" lockers are prity good, not sure which brand. Its a bit cheeper then a carrier replacment.

Lock-Right, No slip and Aussie locker. Lock-rights and aussie lockers are pretty much the same, the no slip is a smoother version of the other 2, but it costs a bit more, but Ive heard its worth it. You can only get the no slip if you have an 8.8 and for the d35. Im not sure if the aussie is made for the 8.8, I know its made for the d35. The lock right is made for the 7.5, 8.8 and d35. Avoid the detroit ez lockers, they're known for failing within minutes of their first use (not all the time, but its not uncommon).
