hi guys i know you a probally going to tell me that it has been covered and to search it but i was wondering if the dana 44 would be a good axle to do a leaf sprung sas on my truck. i have a 200 ford ranger xlt 4x4. its a good buy in my eyes and dont want it to get away.

Yes but that axle is set up for coils. You can get a 44 that would already be set up for leafs and save you some work.

i think you want to look for any F-250 or F-350s from the 70s since they were usually equipped with leaved D44s but i could be wrong

I would look for a Waggy D44, they are RBV width and set up for leaves, and IIRC they are set up for the 5x5.5 bolt pattern...

If you want a 5 lug pattern and leafs. You want a high pinion 44 out of a 76-79 f150 super cab (extended cab) Or you could just get a 44 out of a 77.5-79 f250 (not 350) and change the spindles, calipers and mounts, and hubs and you will have the 5 lugs and leafs. But if you are running this full width I'd leave it 8-lug cause the dual pistion f250 calipers stop great. I have a 79 f250 44 I'll sale. I also may have the parts to swap to 5-lug I'd have to check for sure. I'm near Pittsburgh Pa
