I'm in the middle of a cab swap, pulled the wiring harness from the old cab getting ready to swap to the replacement. But. As I was pulling the lighting/power harness, I came across connectors that I don't know what they go to. Since there is one on each side with the rest of the lighting, I imagine these might be for foglights/driving lights. Anyone know if this was an option in 1990? Or, maybe what they might be for? I can get a pic tomorrow and wire colors.

This truck is strange as it is a 2.3 5 speed truck that I would call stripped with a rubber floor mat. But it had auto hubs and has the electric shift t-case. And no AC...

These don't ring a bell, if they are stock, but get some pics up or more details (# of wires, wire colors, ect.) and we'll see what we can figure out.

They are in the factory bundle, weather pack factory connectors, 2 wires. I'll get a pic and wire colors tonight.

Cool; I'm kinda curious what they are myself, now.

I know that this sounds nuts, but it looks like those are speaker circuits. Early Rangers (gen1 & gen2) had the door wiring routed out of the doors, forward and around the front of the engine compartment. The top connector is a match for C108, with driver's door speaker wire colors; and the lower connector is a match for C144 with the passenger door speaker wire colors. Great to know, just in case you ever want to hook up speakers behind the grille, huh?

Well, now looking at the color chart on the TRS site, I have to agree. Too bad though. I was hoping for factory wiring... Hmmm, wonder if they would ... no, I won't do that...

Plans are to rig the door speaker wiring with a disconnect so I can pull the doors in the summer.

Thanks!

Thanks RobbieD. They might be speaker wires originally, but I gave this some thought last night. I thought I might still be able to use those wires for lights. After more thought, I can use those wires (I know they are not going to support lots of wattage) to feed some relays for lighting. Fewer wires to route elsewhere, and I am going through the harness anyway to correct previous owners mistakes (one guy tried to add a second alternator and battery, the next fixed the alternator wiring, but left the battery harness!!!). So I can strip the looming and move some stuff around, re-loom where needed, and document what I change for myself or the next owner...

Since this truck is 4x4 and lifted and getting 35" tires, I am adding "rock lights" under the truck and other additional forward and rear facing lighting. And because I learned from a mistake with lighting 20+ years ago, all lighting I add goes through relays and fuses. Under dash electric fires are NOT fun!

As a note here, I am not reusing any of the 88 wiring harness, and am NOT adapting 2 harnesses to make one. I have completely stripped out the 90 harness and am fitting it to the 88 cab complete. And anything I can add that doesn't require extra holes in the firewall, so much the better.
