My 88 ranger with a 2.3 is giving me a few issues.

First I needed new plugs/wires, and a cap and rotor. they were old and causing some very hard starting. but that problem is solved. now I have a new one.

the thing hesitates and seems slightly underpowered.

it seems to hesitate more if i get it to higher RPM(3.5-4k) and then shift.

after about a second of hesitation itll go fairly normal. Like i said it's more noticable when driving harder but you can always feel it. Right after a shift.

My air filter is kinda dirty, getting a new one of those. but I've seen worse.

My idles moves around a bit, about 300rpm both ways when cold, less when warm.

Put fuel injector cleaner in it and I'm wondering if my IAC or fuel filter could cause this? any ideas?

check for vacuumm leaks. spray wd-40 over all the hoses. when the rpm goes up, you have found a leak.

and the vaccum leak will cause which problem?

it will cause a rough idle, low power, stumble, and rough acceleration.

how did you make out?

found a little broken vaccum line on top of my intake. wrapped it with electricle tape. problem got better so I'll replace that.

my other problem I can't figure out.

I have no power under 2k rpm like none. and if I stall in the first 5 mins after cold start up it wont refire. itll turn over forever and then itll fire a few times and die. if i manage to punch the gas at the right time after it fires I can get going and then its normal.

once its warmed up this isn't a problem. and yes its a standard

sounds like your pump might be due.but change your fuel filter and run some sea foam through the engine. then report back
