Hey all,
1992 Ranger 4x2 2.3L M5OD-R1 Tranny, no mods on truck (pretty plain)
My tranny basically seems to disentegrated on me, not sure what the problem is (if anyone cares, I was driving down the highway and it sort of made a clunk and lost lots of speed, with the rear wheels finally locking momentarily as I pulled off to the side of the road and came to a stop (turns out this was the clutch sticking from friction, as they broke loose after it cooled off, couldn't start the engine in this timeframe and the clutch had no pressure, all came back after a few mins.)
Now, when I start it, it stalls when I release the clutch no matter the gear position (even neutral), though it will roll in neutral but not in gear (like it should work, in other words). Any ideas?
Also, I'm in the process of removing the tranny. I have, in the past, helped someone else remove an A4LD from a '92 Explorer, and it was an ugly experience for the most part! Any tips on the removal of an M5OD-R1 from the 2.3L? Particularly, does anybody have any good methods for removing the top bolt and the driver's side bolt that attach the bell housing to the engine?
Thanks for your input
~Tim
