I just changed my fluid in my 2000 auto and followed this procedure. It worked great.
found lots of crud on the pan mag. although I think i striped two bolts attaching the pan back doesnt leak yet 
. should i leave them alone or retap to the next size?
lesson learned

Yeah, those just get "snugged" up. It might not leak because of the 2 tripped bolts, more so due to a cracked gasket from over tightening and/or bent transmision pan sealing surface. 
Why the hell would you use an impact gun to retighten pan bolts? They're only supposed to be torqued down to around 14 ft-lbs or so. Good luck getting those bolts out next time.
