Over the last two days driving my 5spd ranger I have noticed when I push the clutch in to shift the RPM's will go up then settle back down. If I let off the gas and wait a second then push the clutch to shift the RPM's will stay where they should.

Obviously there is unburnt fuel in the cylinders at the time I engage the clutch causing the motor to rev a little bit, is this a TPS problem or something a little more sinister?

you might need to clean your IAC valve, sometime they gum up. i used brake cleaner on mine.

yah it could be more sinster, but doubtful.... rule out simple stuff 1st.

check over the throttle linkage carefully...maybe its a broken return spring. or the cable itself is frayed or just sticky.

yes the TPS could be the issue...back probe the connections with a analog multi meter...if the voltage swings evenly from closed to WOT...no hicups..it's prolly alright. There is mostlikely better info on testing in the tech library.

you could have a port crusted over with carbon on the upper intake...checking closely the small vacuum line just behind the throttle plate... & yes remove and clean the AIC while your nosing there.

ALSO check for vacuum leaks everywhere and poor connections and grounds

last but not least...have you tried to get the codes?

Checked for codes none returned. I'm running a can of BG 44k through it now, it seems to have gone away. heh now my coolant recovery tank is leaking..fix one thing another pops up...oh what we do for our trucks. Like the sig IMenriched.
