31'' Tires with no lift

This is a dumb question but i am a very impatient person and I was wondering if 31'' BFG AT's would fit on my 98 ranger without a lift. Or would it be best to wait until i have the lift put on?

they will fit. they will rub a little.

put the lift on first. depending on how much lift will determine your best looking tire size.

98 they will fit with no rubbing. pretty much everything 4x4 from 93 on you can fit 31's some came stock with 31's others 265/75 which is equivalent to a 31 inch tire.

They will fit. Crank the t-bars. That's what I'm running right now.

i didnt think a 98 xlt 2wd had t-bar suspension? if not they will rub on turns.

i just put 31's on my ranger today and did a small offroad test and it didnt rub a bit and in my opinion make the ranger look a little more beefy or tough. FYI, i dont have a lift, bone stock!

is anyone but me looking at his info. all of you telling him they wont rub cause you're running them, are 4x4's. He has a 2wd and i would assume coilspring suspension. they WILL RUB if this is the case.

oh, so you feel singled out? if you read my post it states "all of you" anyone who would have read my post would realize you werent singled out. sorry, to have offended you.

I dont claim to be right all or even half the time. If i were JDS i would double check my answers to his question. i have personal experience trying to mount the 31x10.50 on my truck. hard turns and any flexing rubbed from my experience.

dru, calm down. It's just a thread not the end of the world.

JDS, we have a tech library article on tire fitment. It's located here, hope it helps.

According to that, it will fit. But I would stick to the prior experiences of the people on here, so it would probably rub. Go with the lift, you will be happier in the end.

if you're a very impatient peson, then you're gonna love the extra time it will take you to get up to speed with bigger tires. same goes for stopping, it too will take longer. something about decreased leverage and physics.

heres a 1998 4x4 with 31's...with a 3.0 and 3.73 i can still spin the tires out of a stop....its not too bad (compared to same with 29's) but deff would need to regear with 33's (some people say its not to bad but i would regear)

31" tires on a 2wd 98-00 Ranger will fit. They may rub a lil in the front but that sort of depends on the backspacing of the wheels an so forth. I ran 30" tires on my Ranger for a couple years with no issues at all, flexed out or not. It will likely kill off some power, but it shouldn't be too bad. I'd probably want 4.10s with 31's, but my 3.0, 5-speed and 3.73s worked out ok with 30s and would likely be livable with 31s.

Thats with 30" Sport King AT tires.

That's my lil 2wd with 30" muds.
