Ive got an 06 ranger, i priced a full system yesterday consisting of all Memphis Audio speakers, sub, and amp. This is a professional car audio store called AC Audio. i told them i wanted something that sounded clear but had some bass to it but nothing over the top. What they want to hook me up with is full truck component speakers, a 10 inch sub, ported box and amp. They said theyve done it before and it sounded nice, but i want to know if anyone has actually dealt with Memphis Audio and how good it is?

oh yeah they said itd all have a 3 year warranty on it, so what are the thoughts?

Do it yourself, I can list out some items for you, the stuff is easy enough to install.

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=260-642

And find yourself either 2 2channel amps or 1 4 channel, bridge the 4 channel so its essentially a 3 channel amp with the bridged connections going to your sub and the other 2 going to your component speakers. Ebay or stealitback.com usually has some good deals for amps just make sure they are listed as good or excellent condition. If you buy brands like alpine or rockford fosgate as long as they turn on they usually run solid. I bought my 2 amps from stealitback.com and you'd have to run them underwater just to pop a damn fuse.

The wiring can be a little tricky but if you take your time you should be ok

The thought to do it myself has crossed my mind, ive been all over this website and they seem to have good prices on everything. its onlinecarstereo.com and they seem to have everything fairly cheap and alot of it is brand new never opened. the only concerns i have is wiring(bridging correctly) and running the right size amp so i dont suck too much power from my alternator and mess up anything.

for 2 amps
4ga power cable from the battery to the capacitor
4 ga from the cap to a distribution block
2 8ga from the distribution block to the amps
4 ga ground for the cap
8 ga ground for the amp

16awg speaker wire
4 ga fuse terminal for the power from the battery to the cap
signal cables
terminal rings
heatshrink
dynomatting
.5 farad cap

for 4 channel use 8 ga for the whole thing, you wouldnt need a distribution block and usually theres a manual for bridging amps. Sometimes its the positive of the first channel to the negative of the second. Sometimes in pro amps its the two closest together so it all depends. Check the manual for the amp you get and you'll be fine or when you do get the amp ask someone on a thread and post a pic.

thanks alot.
ill look into it before i go and cost myself a fortune having someone install it.

oh for that sub you can use a vented box but I'm not sure how you use your system because it's a lot harder to reach the mechanical limits of a driver in a sealed box than a vented one. But the vented one at parts express is almost the perfect size.

whats your budget? that will help us piece something together for you. and for wiring, knukonceptz is the place to go.

i use to have 3 memphis studio 12's and a memphis 1000d in my old car and it was ridiculously loud lol. i have memphis components in my rear doors and they sound pretty nice as well. Memphis is one of my top picks in car audio

i dont really have a budget but i dont really want to spend more than say 600$. i just want something that sounds good. not something that im going to have to wear ear plugs to keep from getting a headache.
