Wax on, Wax off now what?

Just wondering what you guys do when it comes to waxing?
It’s getting rather chilly out where I live and I should be putting a nice thick layer of wax on the truck. I was going to hold off and do it on a nice semi-warm day (Hopefully we still get one or two) but generally what is the deal?
-Can you wax if its chilly (about 20C or 68F)?
-Paste or the hard canned wax?
-Can you use the hard wax then after completing that wax job use the paste wax? (or would you just be rubbing off the 1st layer?)
- Any Advice at all on waxing?

Well, it's a great idea to get something on there. I used a good quality liquid wax this last time, normally use a paste. I like the liquid, little quicker to use with little less work. You should be able to use in the temp range you're talking about without any problems. Main thing is get something on there and take your time, don't try and rush through it.

My credo
Don't vote Democrat.
I and my buddy both do tan-bottle Meguiars, and we use a 3-step minimum process using a random-orbital and seperate foam pads for each step (don't use the abrasives pad with glaze or wax, or you're wasting your time) :

Clean wheels/tires. I use Westley's Bleche-Wite, best stuff I've ever used and won't hurt painted/clear-coated wheels if you use it properly (clean, rinse immediately). EXCELLENT on chrome wheels, especially if you use a 0000 steel wool pad as your 'brush.'

Wash with good car-wash shampoo. I use either Meguiars Gold Class wash or Rain-X wash/wax.

Clean engine bay with Simple Green and a soft brush. If extremely greasy, use instead Gunk Foaming Engine Cleaner. Works very well on caked grease/oil, might take some brushing if really bad.

Now for the detail:

If needed, remove oxidation/blemishes with either #1, 2 or 3 Cleaner depending on severity.

#9 Swirl Remover

#7 Show Car Glaze

Finally, #26 Yellow Wax.

Makes the shine about a foot deep, and gives a very rich wet look.

Use Meguiars Endurance Gel on tires/black trim. Lasts a very long time, doesn't wash or sling off easily.

We've won awards at VW shows using this process...

It is if you have a wind from the west blowing around here.

Normally a wax job, on a Ranger takes about how long?

Well I got a nice day, and took the truck over to one of 'em do it yourself power wash stations (the water is to hard for me to try it at home) Washed her down and waxed it up took all of 1.5 hours. I will say that I did do a rush job on it but never the less It turned out good.

If I power wash her again would I be taking off the wax, normally how does that work??
