I just bought a new four-banger and am looking for options for rust-proofing. The dealer is pushing installing one of these: http://www.diamondkote.com/dkgold_DK9000.htm. But they aren't cheap, and I'm a bit skeptical. Any have any experience with these "rust control modules"? Are they effective, or should I just go with oil spray?

no experience whatsoever but it seems like a gimmick. sure in theory it should work but i really dont see it being a rust cure

The article is pretty much correct. The car has to be wet for it to be protected. The same principle is used on steel dams and such. It's easier to replace zinc electrodes than steel retaining walls. Best rust proofing advice, wash your car, and look for pockets where debris will settles in the underbody and hold moisture to the metal and hose it out.

don't do it. it doesn't work nearly as much as underoiling the vehicle and waxing the thing...i have seen plenty of these rust modules and they blow lol
