AVM hubs installed, slid in in free position

I just installed my AVM hubs and I accidentally had the left side in the free position when i slid it on, when it says in the instructions to have it in lock. when i realized that, it was too late. I then jacked up the back and tried my 4wheel and it appears to work. Why do i have to have it in lock position to slide it on? it appears to work. Am I ok or should i take it off again (real bitch) and slide it in while its in the lock position?

took her out on the trails and put 4hi and 4low through their paces, works like a charm, so im not gonna worry bout it

No, it's fine to install them in the Free position. The reason they want you to lock them is to that the hublock splines mate up with the axle splines from the get go to ensure there's no problems.

yea there real nice huh. i put a set in my 99 after i blew up the auto's pulling a fullsize dodge outta a high centered situation on snow and ice :headbang:

. still dont let my buddy hear the end of it to this day. anyways i like the sound construction of these hubs and the fact that they work now evey time. definately a great product for the money. wat did ya do with a vacuum lines for the oldies?

they sure are. I didnt do anything with the vacuum lines. should I figure out where they are and plug them? i think i've read that it reduces power or something? If you got a description/pic of what they look like/where they are if i should plug and string em up, i'd appreciate it
