After doing the test, I just about jumped over my fence with excitement!!
As soon as I gave it power, the pump cut right in!!
So the question is...where do I begin with the electrical?? I just replaced the Alternator 1 & 2 fuse and as soon as I got the battery hooked up they blew instantly!! Anyone have any suggestions?

OK a bit more info please.

explain further about the test that was done on the inertia switch?

also elaberate on what is meant, or better discribe, which fuses were replaced and subsqueintly blew.

in a nut shell...if power is restored to the system, from your battery, and the postive and negative connection were correct at that time...which led to imediate blowing of 2 fuses....then you still have a dead short in the system (wiring), that is controled by those 2 fuses.

best bet is get a wiring schematic and volt/ Ohm meter and start checking...little by little. OR get an whole new wiring harness

So here's the story,

Parked my ranger in the garage a year ago. It was running perfect before I parked it! So I occasional would go out & start it up, but battery died (Last years cold winter) So I left it alone & purchased a new battery the other day. Hooked it up & pulled it over...strong pull over but no fuel pump cutting in. Looked in distribution box to check FP relay...wasn't blown....but popped a new fuse in there anyways, just to be sure. Looked at all the other fuses in there...ALT 1 & ALT 2 were blown! Hmmm weird I thought! Popped 2 new ones in....hooked the battery back up & they blew instantly! So I ignored that for a few mins & proceeded to disconnect the inertia switch & ran a ground wire from it...then a fusible link right out to the battery......Whinnnnnnnnn........sweet the pump cuts in!!!!! So that's where I am now! Where do I go from here? Alt 1 & 2 fuse issue???? No power to inertia switch issue?? I'm off the team when it comes to electrical issues! Any idea where I can purchase a new wiring harness?

Willing to bet that vermon of some kind have nibbled on your wiring during the time it has been sitting. Either under the hood , or inside the cab ....or both.

tracing and repairing this kind of situation sometimes can be a simple thing...meaning 1 or 2 places and your good....or you could fix 1 spot only to find several more??

I'm no electrial guru either...my book don't really show a ALT 1 & ALT 2 ...but it for a 86...I'm sure that something has changed.

you could get a wiring harness from the salvage yard and replace...or get a new one from ford or from LMC, yes it will cost you...it just boils down to how much agravation you're willing to endure.

maybe some others with more experence with your vintage will chime in...maybe even know where to get a schematic
